KENYA'S SUPREME COURT RULING

Whatever side of the political divide you are on, the Supreme Court ruling on the Presidential election should make you happy.

If you voted for President Uhuru and you genuinely believe that he has the numbers, then you can move in that confidence believing that he will win again. That if he is re-elected this time, it will be through a credible process. It is the transmission of the results that was questioned, not the numbers. So if he indeed wins this time, at least he will not be called a computer generated president. You should be proud that although angry, he accepted the ruling of the Supreme Court and did not drive this nation into chaos by refusing the ruling and doing anything crazy. He could have, but he didn't. You should be proud of his humility, that though difficult, he has agreed to subject himself to the rule of law and has strongly urged his supporters to do so as well, to live in peace and not to attack anyone because of this ruling. Also, be happy that the half of the nation that was feeling hurt and disenfranchised by his win has had their win too. They have learnt that they matter too and that Kenya belongs to all Kenyans. No one is more valid than the other. They can win a case against anyone when a process is questionable. That is wonderful democracy and fairness. If Kenyatta wins, they will now hopefully, also accept the result as just and credible.

If you voted for Hon Raila Odinga then you should rejoice that his legacy was finally settled and rubber stamped for all generations. He was vindicated as not being a desperate man on a quest for nothing. He stood firm, he asked questions, he pushed and pushed, even when people doubted him, until truth came out. Even if Hon Raila would retire today, he would forever go down in history as a democracy champion for this nation. This unprecedented ruling that has set apart Kenya in Africa, is because of his determination. He is a force to reckon with and has definitely been greatly responsible for enlarging the democratic space in Kenya. If he wins the presidency, it will be a double victory for him but even if he doesn't, he should be sent off like a statesman. A hero for the nation. Our presidency and our elections will not have the impunity, theft and shadiness that they have had in the past, because of this man.

Father, we thank you that we prayed for your LIGHT to shine and for the truth to come out. We prayed with an open mind, unbiased because we truly don't know the hearts of men or their inner dealings. [See below, prayer posted on August 9th]

Please continue to have mercy on us and on our nation. Forgive us for the bloodshed that happened during this time. Forgive us for the exaggerations, lies and propaganda that we have spread. Forgive us for showing dishonor to leaders and to elders by abusing them and name calling them. Forgive us for tribalism, judging each other and abusing each other based on tribe. Forgive us for the hatred and bile we have shown to each other. Forgive us for despising each other. Forgive us for cursing at each other and wishing even death on each other. Forgive us for being blinded by our bias for our tribes and our parties. You said that we are nothing without love. That our faith won't even work without love. Please forgive us for embracing hate in our attitude and in our words. Lord have mercy on us.

We continue to declare that anyone who manipulated or tried to manipulate this election, be they in government, be they in the opposition or even in the IEBC, is exposed and defeated and brought to book through non-partisan legal procedure. We thank you that their plans failed. Lord, by your mercy, let no one be wrongly accused and sentenced. We speak light. God, please protect the innocent and allow those who are guilty to be found out and prosecuted.

We continue to pray for the Supreme court judges. That they will hastily write their detailed ruling with the reasons for their decisions. That this ruling will help the body that will set up the next election, to seal the loopholes that could render this election questionable again. Help us O God. We pray that truth also comes out in this process and the real dealings and motives of the judges become clear.

We continue to SPEAK LIFE to our nation Kenya. We speak PEACE. We speak the blood of Jesus. Even as we enter into another campaign season and another presidential election. We reject you strife. We continue to silence you lies. We rebuke you corruption. We cast you out tribal hatred. We refuse you war. We refuse for our economy to collapse or to be sabotaged in any way. We plead the blood of Jesus over our nation and over all our people. Help us O God.

Our confidence is in You alone O God. You are the one who holds our nation together. You are our Ebenezer. Thus far, You have brought us. Lead us through this process. Protect us. Choose the leader that you know will do good for this nation. We put aside our limited knowledge and desires. Only You know the hearts and the motives of men. Lord, Your kingdom come and Your will be done in Kenya.

In Jesus' Name we pray.
